Our Community

One Body Sangha is an inclusive and welcoming place where you can practice, learn, and connect with others who are cultivating awareness and compassion.

Sangha is a Pali word that simply means “as one; together with.” We come together from all over the world and all walks of life to support each other on the contemplative path and to share and integrate our practice in our lives and communities through our relationships, work, creativity, and social action. All are welcome.

Between earth and sky
Throughout space and time
Unifying our hearts and minds
Engaging reality with wisdom and compassion
We are interconnected
We are One Body

Our Programs

We offer a wide range of practice opportunities and programs that you can access from anywhere in the world, for wherever you may be on your path. Through live sessions, discussions, retreats, practice intensives, groups and courses we help you to:

  • Establish and deepen in your meditation and mindfulness

  • Feel connected, supported and inspired by others

  • Cultivate healing and interconnectedness in your life and community

Whether you are new to meditation, curious about Zen, have been struggling to maintain a routine, or have a well-established meditation practice, all are welcome.

Our Practice

Our community is led by experienced teachers and practice leaders through Eon Zen Center in the White Plum Zen Lineage, so our practice is rooted in the Zen tradition though accessible to all. You do not have to be Buddhist to practice meditation or join in programs with One Body Sangha. Many of our members are non-religious or part of other faith traditions.

Zen is wonderfully inclusive, simple and direct.

How it works

Meditation, or zazen, is the heart of our practice. While this usually refers to seated meditation, we can practice zazen even in the midst of daily life activity.

Our practice is to simply be still and silent with full awareness and attention, noticing whatever is happening without judgment, attachment, opinions, or expectations. By doing this regularly, we experience the deep stillness and awareness that is within each of us.

We can then bring this awareness into everything we do — walking, moving, playing, creating, relating, and working. We find stability in the midst of the many challenges of our life, and develop more ability to be with whatever is arising.

As a spiritual path, meditation is the “front door” for realizing our own aliveness and opening to our true nature – whole-hearted, loving and wise.

How We Support You

If you’re new to meditation or have struggled to stay with it, you will find plenty of support to establish a regular practice with shorter meditation sessions, in-depth instruction, beginner retreats, practice groups, and one-to-one guidance.

If you have been practicing for a while, there are many opportunities to go even deeper. If you are drawn to becoming a formal Zen Student with a teacher, we can help you explore that, too.

One Body Sangha is here to support your practice in whatever way is beneficial for you.
